A new generation of weaving machines
2007.09.14

As showcase of the latest developments in the textile chain, ITMA is undoubtedly the textile machinery industry’s leading fair, representing the most important trade venue for weaving machine manufacturers and relevant parties.
Fully meeting the slogan created for ITMA 2007 (“Place of innovation ”) SMIT Textile will join this international stage presenting its latest generation of weaving machines, the “920” series, innovative development of the modular structure that characterizes the product design strategy of the company from Schio (VI).
Hardware and software systems integrated into an expandable architecture allow further enhancing the functional features that characterize the SMART Platform.
Versatility and productivity are boosted up by the perfect synergy between the characteristics of the innovative “920” series and the acknowledged textile advantages of SMIT textile fabric formation systems.
The strong points of the new series of weaving machines are numerous: they are equipped with new main motor drives for minimal energy consumption and highest torque, to provide the best fabric quality for any style weaving; the new controls of weaving functions for weft management, lateral binding, shed formation, auxiliary functions etc.; the new expandable electronic platform integrates modular specialised subsystems, connecting them internally and externally by means of a CAN BUS network.
In addition, the new ergonomic design of the machines assures better accessibility, higher protection and quick and easy set-up manoeuvres.
Among the innovations that characterise the GS920 F model, we find the new pile tension control system, which guarantees excellent pile evenness and weight stability, for top productivity, and the new lateral and central tuck-in selvedges, specifically designed by SMIT to work at best with the “dynamic pile” system. This system is characterised by the programmable Tuck-in ratio: this device can insert the tail of the yarn in compliance with the variable pile ratio, for “top class” towels with unequalled selvedge quality.
The new GS920 F weaving machine is available in eight working widths, from 220 up to 360 cm, with dobby and Jacquard shedding.
